Purpose & Process

The United States Power Squadron Vessel Safety Check is a free courtesy check of a vessel's safety equipment for compliancewith federal, state, and local safety requirements. This is the same examination as that given by the Coast Guard Auxillary. The results are not reported to any law enforcement agency.

Our Basic Safe Boating Course fulfills North Carolina boat licensing law and is taught by many experienced volunteers who have a tremendous amount of on the water personal experience.

An opportunity to discuss:

Boaters passing the Safety Check are issued a decal to display on their boat showing that they have met all safety requirements. Should your vessel not meet all requirements you will know what is needed to obtain the decal.
